For small holes up to roughly ½” you may merely use spackling compound and a putty knife. For deeper or bigger holes, drywall repair kits are sold that often embody both simple metal clips that help a replacement piece or some kind of backerboard that inserts into the outlet and suspends itself in place whilst you cover it with joint compound. Embed the tape and cover the entire area with a thin coat of drywall compound, and complete the restore as described in the steps above.
And use a curler when priming to assist elevate the surface texture to match the surrounding wall. In any other case the topcoat will absorb into the patch and make the area look completely different from the encompassing paint.
